Full-Electric 2024 Acura ZDX Type S: Release Date, Specs, Price, Features

Full-Electric 2024 Acura ZDX Type S: Release Date, Price, Specs, Special Features, Interior, Exterior! The 2024 ZDX, a collaboration between Honda and Acura with General Motors, is Acura’s first-ever electronic vehicle and is set to be launched in 2024. The vehicle is going to have a Type S performance variant, likely with extra horsepower and utilizing battery technology for propulsion. This newer version of the luxurious mid-size SUV is intended to be co-developed with General Motors and built on the carmaker’s BEV3 platform, allowing it to be built alongside the Cadillac Lyriq in Tennessee, while the Prologue may share its production line with the Chevy Blazer EV in Mexico.

As the SUV has not yet been launched, there is no official information about the price of the car yet. However, considering the price of the other electric performance SUVs on the market, it is expected that list prices for the Acura ZDX Type S might range from around $50,000 to $70,000, depending on the availability of various equipment level configurations. Of course, these are only assumptions, and the final prices will be known only at launch.

2024 Acura ZDX Type S: Engine Power, and Performance

As the 2024 Acura is referring to the ZDX from the very beginning as a performance SUV, we may assume the Type S is quite a quick vehicle. We might expect a base model with a 340-hp electric motor powering the rear wheels. We may also assume that this powerful AWD version, badged as the ZDX Type S, will be able to make 340 horsepower in RWD form and 500 horsepower with AWD. So potentially, a 102.0-kWh lithium-ion unit battery may provide an EPA-rated driving range of 312 miles and go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. It might add up to 76 miles of range in 10 minutes at a speed of up to 190 KW with a DC fast charger, whereas it might get up to 21 miles of range per hour on a home charger (240 V2 charging at 11.5 kW). The vehicle should have the ability to get 89 mpg combined, whereas it gets 97 mpg in the city and 82 mpg on the highway.

2024 Acura ZDX Type S: Features

The first all-electric 2024 Acura ZDX Type S is yet to come to market, and we have seen only a glimpse of the prototype. Analyzing the prototype, we cannot help but assume that the car’s dimensions might be likely: Wheelbase: unknown, Length: 196.7 in., Width: 86.9 in., Height: 63.9 in., and Curb Weight: 5600 lb.

2024 Acura ZDX Type S Interior

Interior

A glimpse of the vehicle that we had from the spy photograph indicates that it has a large infotainment display with a pronounced physical knob. Just like the previous EV Concept, many of the materials used in the SUV’s interior will be recycled or sustainable to be eco-friendly.

Exterior

Acura has already announced that the 2024 Acura ZDX Type S is going to pay homage to the original ZDX. Even though we are aware of the announcement, we should not expect the same sporty profile for the new vehicle, because the company has also mentioned that the new ZDX’s design will borrow some styling cues from the Precision EV Concept to create one of the most dazzling new SUV designs. The features of the EV concept, like sharp, defined character lines, “Particle Glitch” lighting front and rear, an illuminated Diamond Pentagon grille, and 23-inch wheels, can be expected from the new car.

Safety Features Offered by 2024 ZDX Type S

Like the similar products that the manufacturers are providing in the market, the car is most likely to provide safety features like frontal driver and passenger airbags, side-impact airbags for the front seat, overhead airbags, knee airbags, automatic seatbelt pretensioners, automatic crash response, stability control, ABS brakes, and anti-lock brakes.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

As of now, manufacturers have not declared their warranty and maintenance policy for the vehicle. As we know, the Acura Powertrain Limited mostly offers a warranty that includes coverage for 6 years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first, on newly purchased 2023 vehicles, and this warranty will repair or replace any part that is defective in material or workmanship under normal use. For now, we can expect the same policy for the 2024 Acura ZDX Type S.
